7-Eleven adds fifth new store to NSW/ACT region
Convenience chain 7-Eleven adds fifth new store to its growing NSW/ACT region with the opening of the Metford outlet in the Hunter region.
The five stores have opened up over the last 12 months.
Acting NSW state manager Daniel Halaska said the investment in new stores was part of an ongoing commitment to growth in New South Wales.
“Over the past five years we’ve continually grown our network, and that growth has been particularly strong in regional centres like Maitland.
“We opened our first store in the Maitland area in 2016, and this store is the fourth in this growing region of New South Wales,” he said.
Halaska pointed to the jobs growth that comes with new retail outlets opening up in the community.
“While our investment in expansion is good for 7-Eleven, it’s really rewarding to see the new jobs and career opportunities that come from it.”
Halaska said the NSW team now numbers more than 2,800 people including store leaders, corporate and franchised store team members, franchisees and support functions.
“Ten new recruits are part of the Metford team alongside experienced store manager Benjamin Mychael and I’m excited to see how they will grow their careers in the business,” he said.
The 7-Eleven Australia network employs about 8,800 Australians either as staff members working or as team members at franchised stores.
In December 2020 the convenience chain added more retail units to its Victorian footprint, with three CBD stores opening in quick succession to take the state count to more than 230 stores.
Mid-2020 Braeden Lord, GM retail operations, pointed to future expansion in suburban networks and new communities.
He said regional and suburban locations such as Woombye, Singleton, Tarneit West and Booragoon were on the list for development along with high-density locations such as Richmond West and Maidstone.
