Gami Chicken & Beer fundraises for Starlight Foundation

Gami Chicken & Beer has raised $24,654 for national children’s charity Starlight Foundation since joining forces with the organisation in April 2021.

The partnership began with a $10,000 donation from the food franchise and since then a portion of every sale of the specially created Big Chicken, Big Heart dish has been donated to Starlight.

Although ongoing lockdowns have impacted the sales of the dine-in only dish, Gami HQ continued to make regular contributions to the charity.

Four-year-old Aru is one of the children of the Starlight Foundation who has been positively impacted by Gami’s partnership. Aru has already had a tough short life, undergoing a heart transplant and aggressive treatment for Lymphoma.

Aru’s Starlight Wish was for a new iPad so she could watch her favourite Paw Patrol show while in hospital care, which she has since received.

Gami has also become the official sponsor of the Starlight Go Big Challenge, matching every donation made up to $20,000.

Jun Lee, Gami’s founder and executive director, said “Gami HQ is made mostly of parents so when we heard about Starlight, we knew this was a charity we wanted  to support. We were all personally touched by the organisation and their incredible mission.

“We have a saying in Korean that means, ‘a friend who helps in a difficult time, is a real friend’ and we want to  do the same here. We believe every child should be given happiness, good health and hope so we knew we  had to support this charity in any way we can.”

Gami has almost 30 stores across Australia. The Korean fried chicken and beer business was established in 2006.
