Red Rooster stores reopen after investigation
After the franchisor spectacularly shut their doors last week, two Red Rooster stores in Perth have reopened to the public.
The Waypoint and Forrestfield restaurants came under fire following a series of social media posts that appeared to show cooked chickens piled into the back of a Red Rooster delivery vehicle.
The images of the unwrapped chickens sparked concerns over food safety, prompting Red Rooster head office to shut the restaurants immediately.
However, on Friday afternoon, the chain confirmed that both Red Rooster stores had been reopened.

The announcement comes after investigations into the stores’ practises were finalised, with the franchisor revealing that both outlets are now under new management.
“We are pleased to announce that both our Waypoint and Forrestfield Red Rooster restaurants will reopen today under new management,” the brand said in a statement.
“We would like to thank our customers for their patience and apologise for the inconvenience caused as we worked to finalise reopening arrangements.”
The investigation involved consultation from the City of Kalamunda Council to ensure health and safety standards were met prior to the reopening, with Red Rooster’s operational auditors completing an assessment of all facilities.
Further, the chain also removed and disposed of all potentially impacted product, with all crew members in the affected stores attending a food safety retraining session and a new corporate management implemented.
While concerns had been raised over the welfare of crew members within the Waypoint and Forrestfield stores, Red Rooster CEO Clint Ault confirmed that the change of management would not impact them in any way.
“Today, the crew members in both restaurants will be offered continuity of employment under new management and our suppliers will re-commence the delivery of fresh produce,” he said.
“Red Rooster has been part of the WA and broader Australian community for over 45 years and whilst this isolated incident has been disappointing, we are excited to be reopening these restaurants.”
Both the Waypoint and Forrestfield Red Rooster outlets have now resumed trading as normal.
